The Stettbach Signal Processing AG (SSP) was founded in the mid-1990s by Dr. Jürg M. Stettbacher in Zurich, Switzerland. He established the company after realizing that methods and applications of digital signal processing were not widely known in the industry, and companies were benefiting little from this powerful technology. At that time, Jürg Stettbacher was a research scientist at the Signal and Information Processing Lab of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich.

In its early projects, SSP primarily focused on training and consulting. However, customers soon expressed a desire for a more intensive collaboration. In addition to numerical modeling and system simulation and the design of algorithms, SSP was also requested to translate theoretical results into devices and apparatus, and implement them.
